Feb till May 2009: Disassemble

This was the first step, to disassemble the cockpit. Then I decided to continue and take out all the hardware to easy the paint work. Finally I decided to let the craft all nude in his fiberglass and complectly reset the boat.
I spend 4 months in this activity but only working at saturday or Sunday mondays. I got suprised with the delay, but I prefered to invest in a good
job with pacient than go faster for not satisfatory repairing.
The future confirmed that I did the right choise as I found breaked GRP spots.

Jan 2009: I got a yard for the project

I was lucky since the director of my sailing school support me on carring my boat to the club boat yard. After some inspection the director advised me about the long time required for the project. At that time I didn't belave it.

The rebuild steps I figure out at that moment :

1º Remove the false bottom of the cockpit
2º Remove old paint from the deck and cabin. The existent paint is a kind of gel coat, unregularly aplyed  and breaking in a lot of spots.
3º Paint everything again
4º Change the rudder.

My estimation for time plan was about 3 months !!!!

December 2008: Cockpit need to be reset into original

I realized that the bottom of the cockpit was elevated to self drain water ... Nevertheless that limits a lot the confort aboard so I decided to remove that false sole.
At this time my perpective of refiting was just the cockpit refit, paint and rudder . How far I was from the reality...

October 2008: I bought my Hunter 19

I got interested in hunter 19 after some web searchings and reading reviews. When I was planning about bringing one H19 from UK I found one for sale just near me in Lisbon named Altair II. After the negotiation and sea test I bought it and proudly became a boat owner ! About the story of my boat I just know that she was build in 1972, the previous name was Chunter and there are a not confirmed info that my boat had sailed to Portugal from England in a private compection with another H19 that returned back in Biscaia Bay

Cabin was a mess..
